Favorite Movies?

So I have this discussion with a few people on the regular and after seeing Quentin Tarantino make a list of favorite movies I figured I would give it a go myself. I sit in my studio all day watching dvd's while I work so I watch ALOT of movies, if I do not watch the movie on the regular it doesn't appear. So before I forget, as with Quentin I have a definate number 1 and 2 but otherwise its all up in the air. I bet I have forgot some

1. Donnie Darko

This movie is my shit, end of the story (specifically the Directors Cut). I actually know the entire movie off by heart and the soundtrack was ridiculous. This is also a strong point of many movies in my top 25, Silence of the Lambs and all Tarantino movies for example have solid soundtracks. A movie with a shit soundtrack is like chips with no salt, you can still eat them but you notice with every bite how much you would really like some salt!

2. Shawshank Redemption

This is the perfect movie, perfect, even more perfect then Jessica Alba, pre baby.

3. Sin City

My favourite ever comic book series brought to film in a way I never believed possible.

4. Fight Club

Brad Pitt, I do not like you but you sure as hell make some awesome films. Book is amazing as well, if you read it then read Survivor also by Chuck Palahniuk, its almost better!

5. Se7en

6. Requiem for a Dream

Do not watch this movie if your already depressed!

7. Silence of the Lambs

Awesome book, awesome film. Hopkins was only on film for 16mins and won the Oscar! Shortest screen time ever to win.

8. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

9. The Big Lebowski

The dude!!!!

10. Pulp Fiction

This film has close to my fav two monologues ever.

11. Kill Bill I

12. Matrix I

13. Unbreakable

I love comic books and I love this movie!!!

14. The Goonies

The best all time childrens / adventure movie. This was every kids dream adventure when I was little and I watch this movie at least once a week.  I know favorite is a big call, Dark Crystal, the Labyrinth and The Never Ending story were all up there but they lose out to this classic.

15. Big Trouble in Little China

16. The Usual Suspects

17. Snatch

18. Pans Labyrinth

19. Good Will Hunting

20. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

Although I will admit the motives of Mr. Wonka really need to be questioned this is an absolute classic

21. A Clockwork Orange

The book was better but they did an awesome job. Stanley Kubrick had to be in my 25 somewhere or it would have been sinful.

22. Blade Runner

23. The Wrestler

24. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

25. Mystic River

So thats my 25, some big names missing, Godfather for example, but I haven't watched it for like 5 years so I can't include it.

So the reason I so eloquently placed a question mark at the end of movies in the title of those blog message is because I want to see what yours are or if you disagree with mine. Now I know its unfashionable to post on a persons blog but what the hell, might as well give it a go? Do you really think so many Superheroes would have worn their underwear on the outside of their supersuit if Superman didn't do it first?

You have most of my favorite movies on there! But what about some good old school Al Pacino? Trainspotting with the humorous Ewan Mcgregor? The Departed would have definitely been on my list, along with Clint Eastwood in Million Dollar Baby.

And who could forget the Lion King?

boondock saints and edward scissorhands

L, the only reason I left out Pacino was because I don't watch his movies regularly enough, Carlitos Way just just missed the cut. I wasn't feeling The Departed but the other movies you mentioned are good as well.

Nick, Boondock saints would have made a fav 30 list but we had to cut it somewhere.

Cheers for the replies
